It is the first unofficial long weekend of the summer here in Canada, WOOT! The sun is shining all weekend long and it's supposed to be unseasonably warm. WOOT WOOT! And it's my birthday on Monday so triple WOOT! It will nice to just chill and relax for a bit.

I came across this in my online wanderings and for some reason it entertains me. Canadian painter Margaret Sutherland has painted an oil nude of our Prime Minister, called Emperor Haute Couture. The painting is a modern and satirical take on Renaissance nudes. I like the cup of Tim Horton's coffee being offered up. I wonder if Harper has a dog that looks like that. Things that make you go hmmm...lol!
 
Anyway, it makes me smile.

Our niece Marianne, aka Mouse, passed away peacefully at 7:45 am.
Our little warrior will be missed.

Hi all, thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers for our neice, please keep them up!

Mouse is currently undergoing a proceedure to check the heart, with a scope going down her throat to see how damaged the heart is after the various arrests and to see how strong it is. The machine that is currently helping to pump her heart and to breathe will be lowered so that images can be taken and to also see how it is functioning on its own. Hopefully by noon we will have a better idea how bad things really are, if the heart is still viable or what condition it is in.

We visited with her last night at the hospital and she looked a little more like herself. That alone made me feel better. They had tilted her up slightly so the fluid in her body moved down into her legs more. I can't even describe the machinery that she is hooked up to and the amazing job the medical team is doing. One of her night nurses said she couldn't sleep, she had been worried about her. So sweet. Even Dr. Doom, the doctor with an incredibly difficult to say name who always seems to be the guy to give us the bad news, is outstanding. I can see why this is one of the best hospitals in the world.

What a stubborn little fighter our Mouse is. Keep up the good vibes, peeps!

You know that saying when it rains, it pours? Well, there is a torrential downpour happening in my life right now. I may have mentioned in the past about our neice, Mouse, who was born with essentially half a heart. She's 27 years old now and her frankensteined heart has been in chronic failure for a while and she has been on the heart transplant list for about 16 months now. She was off the list for a while, as she was having some blood pressure issues and her kidney/liver function is not as good as it should be. Friday at around 2pm she had just gotten the news she had been put back on the list, and then while out celebrating at dinner with her mother, she got the call that there was a heart. Exciting and scary, all at the same time. She went into surgery at around 1am and although the surgery went well, everything started to go horribly wrong Saturday afternoon. Her kidneys and liver have shut down, and everytime they try dialysis, she arrests. There was another operation to put in a machine to help her heart with the pressure from the fluid build up, but its tough going. Her body and the new heart are not doing well at all. There is concern about how healthy the heart is now, was it damaged with the arrests, there is so much bloodloss, there is concern about bleeding in the brain too yet. The doctors and staff at the hospital are amazing and are fighting hard, but we fear the worst.

Thoughts and prayers are welcome and greatly appreciated at this point.
Its all any of us can do now.

I've been checking out the IDF Poll over on www.femslashday.com and was pleasantly surprised that there are 10 hearty souls out there who checked off Bionic Woman. And I wasn't one of them!! Lol! So in honor of this little fandom that could, I reread some of my fics and have decided to return to my unfinished Bionic Woman epic proportions story, Fall From Grace and will attempt to complete it in time for IDF. I think I'll have to rewatch the series again, oh the hardship, and get back into the swing of it but I'm taking a week vacation up at my mom's while she is recovering from cataract surgery in June so that might be the perfect time to try to finish it up. Just thought I'd put that out there into the universe so I don't back out of it. Lol.
